If your Apache server does not have mod_gzip or mod_deflate enabled), you can use PHP to compress pages on the fly. This is still preferable to sending uncompressed files to the browser, so don’t worry about the additional work the server has to do to compress the files at each request. Add the following line of code to the top of your PHP pages, above the DOCTYPE declaration or first line of output:

Compressing CSS and JavaScript files

Because the on-the-fly method above only works for PHP pages, you’ll need something else to compress CSS and JavaScript files. These can be gzipped ahead of time, then uploaded along side the normal files. Use 7-Zip (quite possibly the best compression software around, and it’s free) to compress the CSS and JavaScript files as gzip, then upload them to your server. Add the following lines to your .htaccess file to send user agents the gzipped versions if they support the encoding.

HTTP Compression Test

Most dynamic website pages built on windows platform will have a .asp or .aspx extension.

If your converting a site from windows platform to php and intend on hosting the new site on an apache server then you will probably want to honour the .asp or .aspx pages that have already been indexed within the search engines.

To do this you will need to use apaches rewrite engine.
This module provides a rule-based rewriting engine to rewrite requested URLs on the fly.
This means that when a website visitor requests a .asp page then you can rewrite the url and redirect them to the equivalent .php page.

To do this create a .htaccess file and place it in the root folder of your website OR the folder which contains the old .asp pages you wish to redirect.

This example shows redirection on the site www.bizante.com but you can change bizante.com to your own website.

phplist offers

bizante customers have been using phplist for several years.
We have found it to be reliable and offer all the functionality to ensure you can send email whilst also staying within European Law.

This means
1) If the person you are sending to has had no contact with you previously – you need to get permission first.
2) If you have already had an existing business relationship then you can email them until they ask you to stop. You must ensure you are offering similar products and services to those you previously offered.
3) Your email must make it clear who it is from.
4) You must include a valid reply address.
5) You must include an ‘unsubscribe’ link in your emails.

I use osTicket and sometimes I forget my admin password.
Since there is no automated password receovery for the admin user it is necessary to run a MYSQL query to reset the password.
